The beauty and aesthetic industry are undergoing a transformation. Until a few years ago, cosmetic injectables were the only way to achieve skin rejuvenation for anti-ageing, without having to undergo the knife. But they do little for other skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation or rosacea.
Enter Exosome Therapy. These tiny, naturally occurring vesicles are gaining attention for their remarkable potential in skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. But what is Exosomes therapy exactly, and how do they work their magic? Let’s explore.
What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are the natural by-product of cells. They are often described as microscopic bubbles or (in the scientific world) as nano extracellular vesicles.
It’s now recognised that these tiny molecules have an enormous role to play in skin and hair rejuvenation. Although they’re not cells—which means they don’t have the ability to replicate, they are however important for tissue healing, regeneration and repair.
Exosomes contain biomolecules including proteins, growth factors, lipids and nucleic acids such as messenger-RNA, (mRNA) and micro-RNA (miRNA). They act as messengers between cells.
Still wondering, what are Exosomes? Think of them as little envelopes of regeneration that get sent from cell to cell.
Benefits of Exosomes Therapy for Skin
Exosomes therapy for skin has enormous benefits. Exosomes have been shown to:
Be an effective form of skin rejuvenation for the face, neck and hands.
Drastically diminish the appearance of upper lip and smile lines, crow’s feet, and neck rings.
Reduce the appearance of age spots and acne scars including skin depressions, and so much more.
While Exosomes have created a real buzz in skin rejuvenation therapy, they are not a passing trend. Exosomes are revolutionising skin rejuvenation and DermapenWorld remains committed to being at the forefront of this exciting development.
Exosome Therapy Vs PRP & Stem Cell Therapy
While the regenerative techniques of Exosome Therapy, Stem Cell Therapy and to some degree Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy are often grouped together, the truth is, they are all rather different. Let’s look at each of these.
Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy for skin rejuvenation utilises human stem cells to help fill in tissue and create more collagen for better looking skin.
The reason stem cells are used for this therapy is that they have the unique ability to transform from one cell type to another. They can replace and repair damaged cells. And as they grow and divide, they rejuvenate.
There is an abundance of stem cells in fat tissue therefore the process often involves collecting stem cells from fat deposits. This is done via liposuction, in which case a local anaesthetic would be required.
Stem cells can also be extracted from blood. Once the extraction is complete, the stem cells need to be isolated. This may be done offsite at a lab or via a centrifuge. The stem cells are mixed with a solution of growth hormones before they are injected into the skin.
Multiple injections may be required to various areas for example the lips, chin or cheeks. Some skin care specialists may be able to sculpt or contour for a specific finish. But this is a slow process and skin rejuvenation takes time.
While this therapy is certainly not surgery, if liposuction is involved, it may be considered intrusive.
The idea of stem cell therapy may sound good in theory but there is a school of thought that believes otherwise. Stem cell therapy is nothing more than a process of depositing fat to smooth out wrinkles by adding volume.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is an effective skin rejuvenation technique that has received wide media coverage with celebrities undergoing the procedure for a youthful complexion. When combined with microneedling it’s commonly referred to as the ‘vampire facial’ because it involves drawing blood and then coating the skin with it.
Curious to know more about how PRP works? The process involves drawing blood from the patient, usually from the arm—just like a nurse would do for a blood test. This step alone makes it not the best approach for the faint-hearted.
Once drawn, a centrifuge spins the blood at high speeds to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood which is not needed and discarded. The PRP is highly concentrated, full of nutrients and growth factor proteins which are known to assist wound healing.
It’s now common practice to do PRP therapy as part of a microneedling rejuvenation procedure. By combining this therapy with microneedling, the PRP is massaged into the skin immediately after needling. The micro-channels allow the PRP to be delivered into the deep layers for rejuvenation.
While PRP with microneedling gets results for patients, it’s a messy, time-consuming and expensive process. If injected into the skin, it can also cause swelling, redness and pain at the injection sites.
PRP is donor dependent, and not sourced from the youngest purest regenerative possibilities.
The good news is skin rejuvenation therapy is evolving. The next level up from PRP is microneedling with Exosomes. And unlike PRP, Exosome Therapy for skin is suitable for all skin types, aesthetic conditions, skin tones and colours.
Microneedling with Exosome Therapy: The Dp Dermaceutical Difference
Dermapen 4™ by DermapenWorld™ is the world’s original and most trusted microneedling device for in-clinic treatments. As a forward-thinking company always striving for excellence in scientific breakthroughs, we’ve taken the leap into Exosome therapy for skin and hair rejuvenation.
Partnering with the most progressive innovators, the Dp Dermaceuticals™ range now features products with ethically produced Exosomes. Dp Dermaceuticals EXOSOME core technology is based on the youngest, most potent, and safest human-compatible source with a patented immune-tolerant HLA-G COMPLEXA™ Exosome molecule.
Unlike other Exosome-based products, Dp Dermaceuticals does not use any animal derivates such as FCS (Bovine Serum) to culture the Exosomes and DMSO to store the products to avoid toxicity and immune rejection.
Exosomes do not change the DNA of a cell; they contain the no human DNA. They are not gene therapy.
Our patented proprietary filtration process ensures that only the correct and beneficial Exosomes are used in our hair or skin EXOSOME regeneration products.
As part of the award-winning Dp Dermaceuticals skincare range, you can now safely and effectively rejuvenate a wide range of skin concerns with the specialty serums containing Exosomes—a new non-negotiable protocol for optimising skin renewal.
How Long Does Exosome Therapy Last
You may be wondering, how long does exosome therapy last? Let’s talk about why the HLA-G-containing Exosomes are such a big deal in the aesthetic industry.
Some Exosome products trigger a natural immunity to exosome therapy in the skin over time. This means the benefits will eventually taper out even if you continue to apply the products.
However, our patented immune-tolerant HLA-G COMPLEXA Exosome molecule is clinically proven to promote an effect that prevents immunity to exosome therapy over time, ensuring results cannot plateau. The more it’s used, the better the results continue, delivering a cumulative effect.
DermapenWorld’s use of these Exosomes are not intended to cure disease, they are used in a topical cosmetic application.
They are clinically proven to outperform all other forms of synthetic, plant, animal other human-based Exosomes.
Microneedling with Exosome Serums
MG-EXO-SKIN™ has been designed to maximise the results of in-clinic microneedling by boosting natural cellular repair signals for younger-looking skin. The regenerative capabilities of Exosomes accelerate microneedling results to help improve the appearance of many skin concerns, including sun damage, ageing, rosacea, and pigmentation. It is the pièce de resistance and because it’s a professional solution you can only experience the benefits through an Authorised Treatment Provider.
Microneedling alone stimulates the skin’s natural healing process to produce amazing rejuvenation results. The micro-injuries signal the skin to go into repair mode. Now that capability is reinforced with the addition of Dp Dermaceuticals’ potent microneedling with exosomes serum.
Microneedling with Exosomes Benefits
Here are some mind-blowing numbers:
When a practitioner uses MG-EXO-SKIN as a Meso-Glide during microneedling, about 7,000 Exosomes will fit onto the end of a single 33-guage needle.
One oscillation of a Dermapen 4 needle cartridge can deliver 112,000 Exosomes into the skin.
If used at top speed of 120rps, 13,440,000 Exosomes can potentially be delivered per second, with the potential for 806,400,000 Exosomes to be delivered per minute.
That’s a colossal number of Exosomes with regeneration capability being dispersed deeply and proportionately into the skin.
And while some practitioners may opt to inject Exosomes, microneedling with Dermapen 4 is a far superior technique.
With this method there are:
No risk of bruising at the injection site.
Fast recovery time so you can resume daily activities.
A much quicker application process—lunch-time appointments are doable.

"I cannot stress enough how EXO-SKIN has been a game-changer for me.
I first began using it as a post-serum for DIY microneedling on my face, down my neck and décolleté. I saw results almost instantly. I noticed my skin become remarkably tighter and the lines from ageing virtually disappeared. I now religiously use EXO-SKIN as part of my twice-daily skincare routine.
